Bali oh Bali: Day 2

So, I will now jump straight to day 2 of my Bali getaway...
Woke up at 6.30, get ready for rafting event today
Boy I was really looking forward for this...

Breakfast then served at 7.00am
Yah, too early for my liking but what to do. We need to make a move by 8.00am to Telaga Waja as the journey will take approximately 2.5 hrs from the hotel to the starting point.

* sleepy still

We had Indonesia Mee goreng (which was more like indomee goreng actually) and Nasi Goreng. We had difficulties in getting good halal food as meat include chicken are not halal there. So we dont want to take any risk, so plain indo mee goreng and vegetarian fried rice seems enough

* the plain indo mee goreng and nasi goreng

Shuttle provided by the tour agent reached the hotel at 8.15am. Later then we were joined force by another couple, newlyweds to be exact for the rafting activity. Meili and David, a nice couple from Jakarta Indonesia.

The adventure starts a scenic ride through Bali's beautiful countryside takes us to the starting point in the village of Muncan in Karangasem, northeast Bali. Once there we were divided into groups of 4 persons and a guide, which in this case Meili/David and guide Becki

The journey take us through tropical rain forest, breathtaking waterfalls and wild countryside on this exciting adventure. The Spirit of Adventure begins in the hills below sacred Mount Agung on the Telaga Waja river, perfect playground for this exhilarating sport.

The whole trip (back and forth) took us around 7hrs. But it was worth it considering we paid lesser than RM100 for it. Here, one rafting trip cost us RM180 (see the huge margin?)

Haih...then once we reached the villa, rushed ourselves to get ready for Kecak Dance trip later in the evening. For Uluwatu trip, we were guided by Pak Wayan, the same supir that I had for my previous Bali trip. Superb

I will talk about the Uluwatu trip later in the next post as it need one entry on its own. Hehehe...
Right after Uluwatu, we went to Jimbaran for dinner along the beach. The last time I went to Bali, I have no interest whatsoever to go for the dinner. Maybe the fact I was with bunch of girls that time make it less appealing to have a romantic candle light dinner along the beach. Hehehehhe

So we went to Aroma, one of the so many restaurant along the bay, suggested by our supir. It was not that great actually but I guess that would be pretty much the quality for all restaurant along the bay.

* restaurant aroma

We ordered Ikan Bakar, Udang Masak Asam and Fried Calamari for the price of IDR250,000 or more or less Rm90 for us. We invited our supir to eat together with us but he politely declined. "Nggak biasa saya ibu" (Allah, dah jadi ibu pulak haku)

* the fish, calamari and shrimp

* the amazing ikan bakar

* eating his calamari. haih...

* my sad face for not getting the butter mussel.

While having dinner, there was a group of singer with their instrument came to each table and sing some songs for the customer. The amazing thing was they managed to sing and speak in all sort of language. Name it. Japanese, Spanish, French...so cool

So they came to our table and sang us "Letto: Ruang Rindu" and "Samson: Kenangan Terindah". Hehehehe...

We headed back to the villa after dinner and rest for tomorrow jalan jalan. Its gonna be a long day tomorrow...

Penang Bridge International Marathon 2009

Event: Penang Bridge International Marathon 2009
Venue: Penang
Start: 3.45am (Women Open Half Marathon)
Date: 22 November 2009

So as you have read before in my previous entry, as I was yip-yapping about my condition, my so-not-prepared condition for the said race
After its all has been said and done
Alhamdulillah
I can breath easily now

No more panic moment
No more waking up early in the morning just to train
and
No more the "can I do it" attitude.

I made it
I did it
and
I am grateful for being able to do it.

So lets talk about the race then

We reached Queensbay Mall quite early as Prakash who entered the Full Marathon need to be there by 1.30am. The moment we arrived, police has already flooded the area with their big bike and their flashy cones and lights, giving way for the runners to enter before they entirely close the road at 2.00am

While waiting, we slept in the car (yah, we slept!!!!) for almost 1 hour. Poor bootak who had difficulty to sleep early; earlier (cant really say the night before). Sharp at 2.50am, we make our way to the starting grid. Getting ready...

Did a little bit of stretching and stuff, little bit of warm up and little bit of chit chatting while waiting for the flag off. I was so nervous that time considering that this is our first half marathon. I kept saying to myself, "can I do it?", "can I finish the race?"
argghhh...that was a real torture I must say.

But before the race, little bit of camwhoring session

* the awful me

* with his awful pose (yah we were sleepy)

* before race

The Men category started first at 3.30am. We had this pact that he will wait for me at the bridge so we can run together (provided I ace my time reaching the bridge la kan). So my sole motivation to run at pace 5.5mins per KM was solely because of him. Hahahaha...I think if its not because of him sure berlenggang kangkong taking my own sweet time to reach the 5km mark.

We managed to meet up at KM 6 I think, and then I think I saw Edan. My God, dah patah balik ke? Sangatlah hebat kan...I tried to shout his name but the only thing that came out from my mouth was my saliva. Hahaha...I guess I was too tired to shout. (cheh....br 6km je)

We proceed until the turning point for Half Marathin at E2.8. It was not a pleasant experience for me as running on hilly bridge (approximately 1.3km) was not easy. At least for me. I cant say the same for bootak as he aced it. When we reached the turning point, I said to myself, "I have to learn to run alone. I have to test my limit, my capability"

So 1km after the turning point, I told him "If you think Im going slow, you go ahead". As fast as lightning, he freed himself and meluncur laju ke hadapan. Hehehehe...I guess its better for him to run his own race rather than waiting for me.

So for the next 10KM, I was alone. The first 1km was little bit easy but the moment i reached the 15km marker, I felt little bit uneasy on my left ankle. So I took a power walk. Little that I know that it only worsen the situation. I saw a dude with a flanil then terus je "Dude, can I have some?"

Boy, he wasnt prepared for that as he was staring at me for about 3 seconds and then "err, yah". Hahaha...poor fella.

I continued the run until the flyover and I saw the flock has already making their way back to Queensbay Mall....Damn...i was way behind. As I gave a quick look at my watch, it shows 2hr 05mins. Then I decided, this pace wont make me get through the finishing line sub 2hr30mins, lets push a little bit.

I know I wasnt fast. But I know that I am fast enough to make a big difference in my running experience. Usually after 8km, I could barely maintain my pace, let alone constantly run until the finishing line. PBIM changed it and I am glad.

One thing that I notice throughout the race, Men has their own little 'ego' I must say. I noticed every time women runner past by men runner (whose walking by the way) they will immediately start running and try to keep up with those women. A little bit funny I must say but who am I to judge

I crossed the finishing line with time 02:40:58. Yah, I know it was not that good but for a first timer, Im happy with the achievement. Then again, im in it to prove myself I can do it. I am competing with myself.

So we secured the medal and waited for Prakash who finished his full marathon in 5hrs 15mins. awesome!!!!

I would do it again
REST ASSURED!

p/s: okay my race report wasnt that great. Hhaahahaha. I have a non runner readers so it has to be explained in a layman term. Hehhehe

* us with our medal

* the happy me-al

Thank you for all wishes from my gentle reader as well as from those posted it at facebook. Those wishes kept me going!!!

PBIM: Here I come

I only have myself to blame
For a very bad time management on my side
For those work that has been piling up and require my immediate attention

I know some might say
"kerja banyak tapi sempat je update blog"
Haih....
Blog can de-stress me so I use this quality 5 mins break to update my level of stress

I seriously dont know what to expect this Sunday
As this will be my first half marathon and with lack of training,
I am not expecting any good time clocked for the run
I really hope I can finish it strong

To be honest, I once had a thought to just quit without trying
Then again I realize the reason why I started running at the first place
The real reason why
So here I am
Trying the distance
Hoping for the best

Ya Allah,
Lindungilah dan bantulah hamba-Mu ini

Aku Wanita Biasa Biasa

Bisa Sakit Luka Karena Cinta
Dingin Sepi Kerap Menyapa
Air Mata Jatuh Lukisan Raga

Kadang ku Kuat Setegar Karang
Kadang ku Rapuh Lemah Liar Merana

Chorus1
Maafkan Aku Bila Hasratku Keliru
Sulut Gairah Jiwamu
ku Yang Dosakan Cinta Kekasih

Aku Wanita Biasa
Kris Dayanti

During my time in Bali recently, every time we had regardless lunch, dinner or even tea at any place, the tv shows news about Kris Dayanti and obviously its about the latest chaos on her marriage to Anang.

Little that I know that kind of news will be so huge in Indonesia (that includes Manohara story. Haih I thought we are over it already)
KD was labeled as the biggest bia*** for cheating to her husband. And Anang in contrary is one of the hottest and most wanted eligible man in Indonesia now. Wow...thats what you get when you were married to the Diva and she cheated on you

The whole island talked about KD, i guess that would be the case here if ever (** touch wood**) Siti Nurhaliza cheated in her marrieage
Hahahaah

Terry Fox Run 2009

Event: Terry Fox Run 2009
Distance: 5km (advance route) and 3.5km (family route)
Venue: Lake Garden, KL
Date: 1 November 2009 (Sunday)

Again, this year we participated in Terry Fox Run. When I say 'we', I meant me plus the BNM Volunteer Team as well as my bootak. As this is for charity i.e cancer awareness and research, so no frills. Registration is not needed, just buy the T Shirt and then run

This year, BNM Volunteer sent 107 participations (which I believe 70% of this figure turned up on the event day). Impressive I must say compared to last year where only around 15 participants from BNM

So the day started with us walked from Padang Merbuk to the Lake Garden. You can already see sea of 'black' shirt walked to the starting point. Im not too sure why this year they went to the dark side. Instead of white shirts last year which I think is more suitable for Malaysia weather.
Okie...
Weather
Yah...
That one is another story.

So after BNM team flocked, we did little bit of stretching.

* Reza as the leader.

* regangkan tangan

* tarik nafaaasss....hembusss...

After stretching bit, of course some cam-whoring moment.
So we decided to take a LOMPAT picture
Hahahahaha

Fizri as the photographer counted 1,2......

Hahahhaa

Finally we got the lompat picture of all BNM Volunteers for Terry Fox Run
As well as some skema picture

* bersopan santun rakyat BNM mengambil gambar.

Ouh ya, I forgot to talk about the run itself.

They should have start earlier. PERIOD! Starting a run at 9.00am was not a smart move I must say. I was really, really HOT. When I complained about how hot it was means it was really hot. (cause usually I couldnt be bothered).

The race started with 2 flag off. One for those on wheels and second bit for normal runner or I must normal participants. The first 1KM everyone walked, walked and walked (because there was no space to run anyway). Organizer might wanna consider doing it on normal road like how Siemens Run do it every year.

we took the advanced route. the advanced part was the only part that I like because we ran along the road to Carcosa. It was not as hot as the route at Lake Garden. Right after the run ended, I feel like I had just taken a crazy roller coaster ride. Pening.............

All in all it was fun! fun and fun
